Highlight on Fabio Napoleoni - the Artist of the Heart!

Whether you are brand new to the works of Fabio Napoleoni, or are a long time fan, there’s a lot of history to the seemingly simple imagery presented in his artwork. Even people just passing by the Fabio sections of our walls here at the gallery most often ask “What does all of this mean? Who are these characters?!” and it’s hard to explain everything to them in the succinct manner they are seeking from me. The simple answer is it’s the whole spectrum of human emotion, and the characters are based on people in his life. The longer answer is why you’re most likely here reading this post!

Fabio Napoleoni was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to a family of Italian/Spanish artists. Being born with chronic asthma meant that young Fabio was limited on what he could do outside of the house, so his mother encouraged him to utilize his free time to draw and create. Despite some turbulent family change, Fabio kept up his doodling through a move from Puerto Rico to New York, and then from New York to Maine.

Fabio got a real taste of working in this industry he loves when he answered an ad for stained glass work. For five years Fabio worked under Blaise Botti, a name well known in the stained glass world, and was able to help in getting the company on the cover of the Smithsonian Gift Catalog, TWICE! As impressive as that accomplishment is, Fabio would go on to achieve more great things with his artistic talents.

After marriage and a child, the prayers for a second child were answered for Fabio and his wife, but not in the way they had expected. Before birth, his second child had been diagnosed with a major heart abnormality. Going through all the surgeries she had to endure, by her bedside, Fabio found himself coping with his emotions through his work. This was really the base from which his signature, emotion-filled style launched from. He says that his work is “saturated with emotions from myself and those around me,” and that the characters he creates are inspired by the people in his life such as doctors, pediatricians, nurses, family, friends, and community that helped carry him through one of the hardest times in his life.

Fabio’s stance on artwork is that no one should by artwork simply to match decor in their house, but to buy art out of emotional attachment - “it pulls at your heartstrings”. This attachment is what fuels Fabio’s work and his passions for this industry, and is most likely why he sticks to his “artist of the Heart” moniker, which he wears with pride. It’s no wonder that this self-made artist is becoming as popular and noticed as he is.

Per usual, thank you for stopping by our blogspot! If you haven’t gathered already, Fabio Napoleoni will be joining us here at the gallery in THREE DAYS (Thursday, November 1st!) for one night only, so don’t miss your chance to connect with the artist both in person and through his work! New Works at Fascination St. Fine Art!

Long time no see, blog followers! We have a real treat for you today though - we wanted to showcase some of the newest releases from an array of our amazing artists! Come check them out (and remember, you can get ALL the details on each of these artists and their works at our website, www.fascinationstart.com, but there are links to each piece within this blog post - explore to your heart’s content!)

Tim Cotterill, aka Frogman is first in our lineup, since you can come see all these little guys at our show with him on October 12th and 13th! As part of the show, Frogman has made us a custom show frog, and we finally have a name for this beautiful guy - “You Are My Sunshine!

Here we have his newest release, “Ferguson”! Ferguson is special because he can be indoors or outdoors, and you can choose from different patinas!

Next up on Frogman’s side are these paperweights (Triangle, Horizontal, and Vertical) - never before have office supplies been so cute.

Then there’s little “Chase” - being small doesn’t mean you can’t leave a big impact.

------
Fabio Napoleoni is now on deck, as we have a show coming up with him on November 1st! The artist of the Heart did not disappoint with these new pieces. One of two new releases, here is “True Optimist” - it comes with a free print of “Mr. Pickles!”

Next is “The Tipping Point” - a strong and solid piece.

------
Gabe Leonard is one talented guy, and though we won’t see him again this year, we had to show off this new piece entitled, “Yes I Do”. A beautiful addition to his already large repertoire of gun-slinging women.

------
Nano Lopez we just saw this August, and his next Foundry Tour is coming up at the end of this month! What kind of people would we be if we didn’t show off his newest release, the long-awaited and gorgeous “Katrina”.

Although he came out this summer, “Leonardo” here was more than worthy of another share.

------
Thomas Arvid is well known for his mastery of realism with his wine-themed pieces, and this newest work “Making History” is no exception.

Hope you enjoyed our little e-tour of some of the newest and best works to travel through the gallery lately - you can stay up-to-date on all the goings-on here at Fascination St. Fine Art at the following social media sites and our website. We love to hear from you, our customers and fans, so please reach out if you like what you see!

Charles Fazzino: Master of 3D Pop Art

What comes to mind when you think of “pop art”? If the works of Fazzino aren’t included in your musings of soup cans or Marilyn Monroe’s multi-colored faces, they should be. Charles Fazzino isn’t called the “Master of 3D Pop Art” for no reason, and as one of the most iconic and widely-collected pop artists of all time he has a 30+ year long track record to back up that title.

On December 26th, 1955, Charles Fazzino was born to a Finnish sculptor named Irene, and an Italian shoe designer named Salvatore. Art became a passion for Fazzino through his first formal art class in 1967 while in middle school, with his first solo art exhibition following soon after in 1968. The passion for his craft only blossomed through to college - Fazzino graduated from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan in 1977 with a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts, majoring in both Illustration and Printmaking.

The three-dimensional silkscreen serigraphs that Fazzino has come to be so known and loved for had a clear start in his life. While Fazzino was young on a trip to Florida, Fazzino stumbled upon a store holding a free class about paper tole techniques. Paper tole is the craft of cutting, shaping, and glueing many identical prints of paper together to create layered, 3D effects. This reminded Fazzino of the pop-up books of his youth, and left him creatively inspired to venture down a whole new artistic path. Upon returning to New York, Fazzino cut out many city street scene prints and layered them together to create the 3D effect, giving new life to the once flat prints. Fazzino soon noticed that people were buying these new, three-dimensional pieces of his over his traditional, two-dimensional work.

“The process really comes from doodles as a child, and then I love pop-out books and did a little bit of printmaking in school...Everything came together.” - Charles Fazzino

Such fascinating works often leave people asking if machines created the beautiful 3D scenes, as they’re of such superior quality and there are just SO many pieces! Well, believe it or not, ALL of Fazzino’s works are hand-drawn, hand-printed, hand-cut, and hand-glued. From beginning to end, the process Charles Fazzino has for making his incredible art is awe-inspiring. The process starts in a research phase, which could take several months depending on the subject matter being drawn. Then Fazzino takes this research and creates a flat, detailed, and colored drawing to be sent off to be printed into silkscreen. One layer of this is used as a base, while thinner “flats” in the silkscreen are used as cutouts for the layering process. Layering is typically done in three layers, (“Layered like a lasagna” as Fazzino famously self-describes the process), and then finished by hand with glitter glue and Swarovski crystals for the iconic flair we all know and love in his works. For a more detailed look into this process, please visit this page on his website: (https://www.fazzino.com/art-blog/making-the-fazzino-singapore/)

Charles Fazzino’s works can be seen in hundreds of museums and galleries spanning over 20 countries. He has breached the barriers of artist, and has been called a “pop culture historian” due to the wide spectrum of his work, and the manner in which he touches his audience by capturing the best in each of their lives, regardless of where they’re from. Aside from his gallery representation, Fazzino keeps busy with being the official, licensed artist of the NFL for the Super Bowls since 2001, as well as the artist for at least thirteen Major League Baseball All-Star Games. Fazzino is no stranger to being an official artist for major events outside of sports as well - you can see his works for events like the Olympics, Grammy Awards, Daytime Emmy Awards, and he even boasts a theatrical nomination in 2013 for his live art experience, “The Fazzino Ride”.

Come see the works of - and meet - this accomplished artist here at Fascination St. Fine Art and Frame on Friday, September 14th from 5pm-8pm, and Saturday, September 15th from 1pm-4pm. Charles Fazzino will be dedicating any purchased artwork as well as chatting with collectors. Thanks for stopping by and we all hope to see you at the show!

For more information on this event, please don’t hesitate call us at 303-333-1566 or reach out to the gallery with any of the following:

Nano Lopez - Master Sculptor!

The world as seen through the eyes of a child is a place of unfettered creativity, imagination, and boundless fun. There’s no facet of media that doesn’t try to play on this concrete fact of growing up, but there’s one artist in particular who has made a name for himself based on this ideology: Nano Lopez.

If you’re unfamiliar, Nano Lopez is a Colombian-born sculptor who is internationally recognized as a master of his craft. Lopez uses an ancient method of sculpting called the “lost wax” casting method that dates back to ancient Egypt, which helps him achieve the pristine levels of detail in his sculptures. (If you’re curious as to what all this very detail-oriented process entails, here’s a link to Nano Lopez’s process explanation - it’s truly fascinating! http://nanolopez.com/process.html) This casting method is what allows him to be so detailed with his integration of organic and synthetic textures and shapes in his work. The unique blend of the variety of silhouettes that exist within our whole world are mixed in a vibrant, amusing manner that appeals to the core of the collective human experience.

Nano’s artistic talents were obvious from a young age - from winning first prize in a drawing contest at 5 years old to finding wet clay at construction sites as a teenager to practice making clay figures that were copies of master works. With guidance and inspiration from his grandmother, another ceramics and water clay artist, Nano honed his technical skills and became the talent he is today. His father was a chemical engineer, which provided Nano with inspiration from the various metals and textures his father worked with, to the chemicals they used and the effects they had on the metals. With all of this inspiration and technical instruction, Lopez ended up with the complete package for becoming the master bronze sculptor that he is.

Though Nano started out specifically in just making models, he has expanded his work to what he lovingly dubs his “Nanimals” - a light-hearted, fun series of bronze cast sculptures that feature a wide variety of textures and shapes, fun colors, and compositions that connect with you on a deeper level, that child-like place where life is still fun and mysterious.

You can check out Nano Lopez’s artwork here at Fascination St. Fine Art every day, but he has a solo show coming up August 24th and 25th! Stay tuned to here or our social media for more information on that front.

Godard ROCKS Denver 7/28/18

Michael Godard, the self-proclaimed “Rockstar of the Art World” will be joining Fascination St. Fine Art and Frame on Saturday July 28th, 2018. At this event you can get artwork dedicated, talk with Michael Godard himself, and peruse and purchase artwork to your heart’s content. It’s guaranteed to be an invigorating, unforgettable event!

This electrifying artist draws crowds both young and old from all walks of life, as his unique perspective on fun, imagination, and humor with his olives, grapes, and strawberries tend to inspire everyone to think outside of the normal creative box. Godard shows us the whole spectrum of human emotion through a lens of satire and humor, with a level of skill that is unparalleled in the art world.

Godard’s artwork is not only exciting to look at and inspiring in quality, it's also emotionally charged and serves a purpose greater than itself - Michael Godard is incredibly dedicated to philanthropic causes revolving around finding a cure for cancer. Inspired by the untimely passing of his daughter in 2006, Godard hopes to utilize his status and notoriety to fund finding a cure for the disease and save lives in the process. He works closely with St Jude’s, The Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation, Make a Wish, and the Nevada Cancer Institute to help serve that purpose.

The interest and talent train doesn’t stop with artist and philanthropist for Michael Godard. In 2014, Michael Godard’s Vodka appeared on liquor store shelves throughout the United States. He has also done custom work for clients including slot machines, album covers, and guitar designs for the lead guitarist of the rock band Guns N’ Roses. You can read about Michael Godard’s life, his inspirations and see beautiful images of his work in his art book, “Don’t Drink and Draw” which was called the best art book of 2006 by USA Book News. Godard’s work can be seen everywhere from galleries across the nation, to the officer’s lounge at the Pentagon and every US Navy Aircraft center, as he is widely collected and internationally acclaimed.

Come experience all of the unique, energetic fun that is Michael Godard’s work with us here at Fascination St. Fine Art and Frame on July 28th - this event is one you won’t want to miss out on! Henry Asencio will be at Fascination St. Fine Art Gallery THIS WEEKEND!

"I want people to feel what I am doing - not just see what I am painting."
Henry Asencio

Henry Asencio's stylistic approach entraps the viewers desires and completely conceptualizes a feeling within the painting with the combination of figurative drama and spontaneous abstract backgrounds. His aggressive strokes and loose contemporary style blended with a perfect combination of classic figurative painting is almost reminiscent of the impressionists. Merging introspection and visual spectacle, Henry Asencio's personal investigations of femininity, spirituality and abstraction possess the power to transform todays ideals of elegance and contemporary sensuality.

"Painting for me is very cathartic and is the most articulate way for me to express my passion and internal dialogues."

A Bit About Asencio's Journey....
In 1996, Henry Asencio was sponsored by art supply company, Thayer and Chandler, which resulted in exposure in exhibitions as far as Germany and Paris. In 1998, Henry Asencios work was recognized in an art competition in Amsterdam, where he earned the prestige of being a first-time artist dually awarded with gold and silver medals in two separate divisions: self-portraiture in oils and work in acrylic medium. Excellent in his chosen discipline, Henry Asencio graduated with honors from the San Francisco Art Academy in 1999. Henry Asencio was even a chosen finalist in The Artists Magazine competion that same year, again for his work in portraiture.

Although Henry Asencio earned a living as a portrait artist early in his career, today he is more concerned with creating a mood and pushing the aesthetic rather than achieving a true likeness as the ultimate end. Henry Asencio refers to the current content of his work as sublime figures with aggressive application. Henry Asencio proclaims an admiration for artists who have chosen their own paththose who are inspired to follow their muse. This is the path Henry Asencio has chosen for himself as a fine artist. Inspired by the works of British artist Lucien Freud, the grandson of Sigmund Freud, Henry Asencio claims, his work of the flesh is unsurpassed. Henry Asencio is also motivated by the unbelievable vision, work ethic and unrelenting passion of Pablo Picasso. Other notable inspirations include Wilhelm de Kooning for making every stroke of the brush different, and Gustav Klimt for making decorative painting with integrity.

Henry Asencio paints from his studio in San Jose, California, inspired by women, life, experience and nature. Using life as a vehicle to produce his art, Henry Asencio's work translates an impulse into his own reality on canvas and other surfaces. Henry Asencio has recently begun to paint on board, as the surface is more resilient to his aggressive paint style. The artist prefers to work in oil as nothing compares to the richness and workability of the oil medium and it fits my technique perfectly. Henry Asencio's work is in such high demand, it takes him at least 9 months to complete an original.

Watch this quick video and learn more about the inspiration behind Henry Asencio's "In Bloom" release. This was created for the American Heart Association and the "Go Red" campaign! For more information: Please Click Here

Remember every time you purchase Henry Asencio artwork over $995, shipping is FREE in the continental U.S. and there is NO SALES TAX when you purchase outside of Colorado. We SHIP WORLDWIDE and offer Layaway for Henry Asencio art.

Nano Lopez is coming to Denver!

Samuel the Poet  -   Davian the Dragon  -  Sherlock the Scotty

Nano Lopez, the man behind these amazing whimsical bronze sculptures, will be in Denver Saturday August 15th from 4-8 PM & Sunday August 16th from 1-4 PM! Get a glimpse of the inner creative workings of his imagination and chat with him about his next projects! Each piece is hand painted, making each piece an unique one of a kind piece! The texture and detail is so personal to Nano, all
the odd objects he incorporated into the pieces truly represent his
unique perspective. I would almost go as far to say that these pieces hold a somewhat steam punk feel, incorporating human- made objects like cogs and wheels along with stamped numbers and beautiful colored patinas and merging them with beautiful natural organic beings.

"The transformation from clay to bronze has always been magical to me" - Nano Lopez

A quick tip before we go....
Make sure to keep your Nano Lopez pieces out of direct sunlight, as the light might change the colors of the patinas. Also NEVER use harsh chemicals to clean your pieces. Use light soapy water when cleaning!
